Last Day at the Beach :(

On our final day at the beach we got up early and had breakfast then headed to the beach for the last time :( We had a great time though and were there for over 2 hours. After we left the beach we went straight to the pool at the hotel where we stayed for quite some time. We went back to the room to clean up and have a snack before we went to lunch. We had lunch at the Dancin' Iguana and sat on the dock so we could watch the boats. After our lunch we had fried ice cream! When we went back to the hotel it was time to pack up our things and head back to Clanton. We were all very tired, but we hated to leave the beach.

Last full day in Destin!

On our last full day in Destin we didn't go to the beach or the pool. We thought it was going to rain and Sarah's face was red and swollen (we think from eating shrimp). We spent the morning at the Emerald Coast Science Center and then headed to the Air Force Armament Museum. After that we went back to our room for lunch and naps. We work up from naps and went to Hammerhead's for dinner. After dinner we went to the Nike outlet (just to look) and then to Bass Pro Shop. Going to Bass Pro is a lot like going to the zoo for the kids only the animals don't move except for the fish in the fish tank. It was a fun day!

Destin Day 3

Today started much like yesterday. We got up. Had breakfast and headed to the beach. It takes about an hour for us to eat and get ready to go to the beach. We stayed at the beach for about 2 hours. Elizabeth was the foreman on the sand castle construction job today. She did a good job, but I forgot to get a picture of it before she and Cole tore it down. The highlight of today's beach trip was when we were rinsing the sand off our sand toys before we put them up and headed to the car. Daddy would fill the buckets with water and throw the water on whoever he could catch. It was lots of fun. We even saw dolphins from the beach which is something we had never seen before. I didn't get the camera out in time, but it was absolutely amazing. We came back and de-sanded ourselves and went to lunch at Angler's.
After lunch we went back to our room for naps and slept too long. Tomorrow we will have to set an alarm so we don't sleep so long. We went to the outlet mall and got Sarah some new shoes and me some new sandals. We ordered pizza on the way back to the hotel and got back just in time to get it.
Tomorrow is our last full day here. I kinda don't want to leave because it's not very often that we're all together without the distractions we have at home. It's supposed to rain tomorrow, but we have a few tricks up our sleeves.

Destin Day 2

We got up this morning and ate breakfast and headed to the beach. We had so much fun! The kids loved making sand castles or "shand tastles" as Coley would say. We stayed on the beach for about 2 hours and then headed back to wash the sand from our "quacks". We got dressed and made some sandwiches and settled in for naps. After naps we went to Fudpuckers and had dinner and fed the alligators, then came home to do some swimming. It's spring break, so it's crowded down here and at night the traffic is awful. A truck drove by us last night on the way back to our hotel and there were boys in there with their shirts off and their windows down. Sweet Sarah was convinced they were naked. She was so funny. Other than a few moments when they didn't want to listen these little monkeys have been pretty good. Here's some pictures.

Shedd family vacation Day 1

Well, we couldn't check in till 4, so we took our time finishing packing and ate lunch at home before we hit the road. The drive wasn't too bad because the kiddos slept most of the way. We didn't exactly follow our directions to get here which really makes me nervous, but we made it.
We missed the turn if for our resort and pulled into another parking lot to get back to where we were supposed to be. In that parking lot were about 30 wanna be Leprechauns drinking what we will call juice because this is a family show. It was strange to say the least. I think they were all wearing green dresses and both males and female Leprechauns were represented. Elizabeth thought they were crazy.
We ate at Fisherman's Wharf and sat by the window so we could watch the sun set and the ships that passed by. It was really nice. Jonathan and I shared Mahi mahi and shrimp and boy was it good. Elizabeth downed a plate of popcorn shrimp on her own and the little ones shared a cheeseburger and fries.
We went to Wal-mart and that was a CRAZY place to be. It was more crowded than any place I've ever been. I guess that's what you get when you go to the beach for spring break though. Thankfully the most frequented aisles were the ones we did not need anything from. My 3 peas are sleeping on a couch that pulls out into a bed, and when I say sleeping I really mean playing. They all wanted to sleep together. Now if we could just get them to go to sleep so that we could go to bed we would be in good shape.
BEACH IN THE MORNING!

It's been a while

It seems like the kiddos have done nothing but swap germs the last couple of weeks. We thought Cole had chicken pox the last time I wrote, but it was just a reaction to an antibiotic. All three kids have had runny noses and little coughs, but only Elizabeth had a fever virus that was really yucky! She was miserable and missed three days of school with it. We seem to be much better now except for runny noses. If the weather would decide what it's going to do and stick with it I think we'd all be better off. I'm so ready to air out this house.

This week was make it or break it week for basketball. Both teams had to play in "play in" games to enter the tournament and both teams lost. We have had such a good time with these kids this season. I believe our kids think they are just part of our family because we see them so much. Kinda sad that it's over, but now we're on to Track.

We got snow in Clanton last night! There's always hoopla about snow in the south, but I learned at an early age not to get my hopes up. Now it's a special treat when we actually get snow. School was delayed, so there was time to play in the snow before school which was lots of fun. Unfortunately it was upsetting to Sarah and Cole that Elizabeth and Daddy had to leave. They both cried.

Last night was wonderful. With no basketball Jonathan was able to come right home after school. He brought Elizabeth home with him of course. She fell asleep in the car. He cooked dinner and we were at church before 6 which NEVER happens! I loved it!

I suppose you want an update on the kids. Well, my sweet Sarah says she's getting married to a boy named Brody. I will try to get a picture of them at her Valentine party on Tuesday. We hear about Brody ALL the time! Elizabeth brought home a progress report and of course it was a good one. I really don't think I'll have to worry about her academically for quite some time. She's a very smart girl. Cole has been funny lately. We say prayers every night before putting them to bed. He does "Now I lay me down to sleep" with Daddy and then he and I do our own. Lately when I'm finished he'll say someone's name and I'll tell him to pray for them. He'll mumble something I can't understand, say their name and then say, "Amen". Last night I think we prayed for everyone we know. It was cute though.

I guess that's about it for the Shedds. I'll leave you with some pictures. There's one of Sarah from her field trip to Bud's Best Cookies. Two snow pictures from this morning. One from the doctor's office and one of Cole being silly!
